چکیده

results there was a significant positive correlation between increase in the monthly average temperature, the number of rainy days, and the number of frost days with the number of rta (p < 0.05). increased monthly average relative humidity, evaporation, and number of sunny days were negatively correlated with the frequency of rta (p < 0.05). we also observed an inverse significant correlation between monthly average relative humidity, evaporation, and wind speed with traffic accident mortality (p < 0.05). some air pollutants were negatively associated with the incidence rate of rta. conclusions it appears that some weather variables were significantly associated with increased rta. however, increased levels of air pollutants were not associated with increased rates of rta and/or related mortalities. additional studies are recommended to explore this topic in more detail. methods in this ecological study, data about rta, traffic-related mortalities, air pollution (including no, co, no2, nox pm10, so2, and o3 rates) and climate data from march 2008 until march 2015 was acquired from the khuzestan state police force, the environmental protection agency and the state meteorological department. statistical analysis was performed with stata 12 through both crude and adjusted negative binomial regression methods. background air pollution and weather are just two of many environmental factors contributing to traffic accidents (rta). objectives this study assessed the effects of these factors on traffic accidents and related mortalities in ahvaz, iran.

Relationship Between Air Pollution, Weather, Traffic, and Traffic-Related Mortality

BACKGROUND Air pollution and weather are just two of many environmental factors contributing to traffic accidents (RTA). OBJECTIVES This study assessed the effects of these factors on traffic accidents and related mortalities in Ahvaz, Iran. METHODS In this ecological study, data about RTA, traffic-related mortalities, air pollution (including NO, CO, NO2, NOx PM10, SO2, and O3 rates) and c...

[Perinatal mortality and traffic-related air pollution].

Traffic-related air pollution and cardiovascular mortality in central Taiwan.

In this study, the relationship between cardiovascular mortality and traffic-related air pollutants (NO(2), CO, PM(10), and six volatile organic compounds (VOCs), propane, iso-butane, propylene, benzene, meta-, para-, and ortho-xylenes) was investigated. The concentrations of NO(2), PM(10) and CO from 1993 to 2006 were measured at a fixed-site air monitoring station, and VOC data from 2003 to 2...

Traffic-related air pollution and brain development

Automotive traffic-related air pollution (TRP) imposes an increasing health burden with global urbanization. Gestational and early child exposure to urban TRP is associated with higher risk of autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia, as well as low birth weight. While cardio-respiratory effects from exposure are well documented, cognitive effects are only recently becoming widely recognized...

Traffic-Related Air Pollution and Childhood Asthma

Assuming an average latency of 42 years, the authors predict that incidence rates will peak in 2009 and that diagnoses will peak in 2014. However, they caution that ongoing use of chrysotile asbestos (which has been implicated but not conclusively established as a cause of mesothelioma) and the release of asbestos fibers from older buildings during demolition or reno vation may slow the projec...

Traffic-Related Air Pollution and Otitis Media

BACKGROUND Otitis media is one of the most common infections in young children. Although exposure to environmental tobacco smoke is a known risk factor associated with otitis media, little information is available regarding the potential association with air pollution. OBJECTIVE We set out to study the relationship between exposure to traffic-related air pollution and otitis media in two birt...
